Hien on her visit to Henley Dragons.
No visit to Henley would be complete without a trip on the River Thames, so Henley Dragons were delighted to host two US dragon boat paddlers on their recent visits to the UK.
Hien from the Ocean State Dragon Boat Club based in Cranston, Rhode Island joined us for two of our training sessions whilst on vacation in the UK. With the Great River Race just a couple of weeks away, Tuesday's training session focused on distance exercises in preparation for the 22 mile race and Hien slotted into the team and training exercises perfectly. Not put off by the distance training on Tuesday, we were pleased to welcome back Hien again for our Thursday training session that focused on exercises and techniques in preparation for our next BDA league event.
On Sunday we had the pleasure of hosting George from the Killer Guppies Dragon Boat Team based in Long Beach, California. Whilst Henley wasn't able to offer the same golden sands of Long Beach, California, the sun certainly shone during our videod technique training session. Like Hien, George slotted seamlessly into our team and it was interesting to learn about the similarities and differences in the warm up, training and racing techniques of our respective teams.
It was our pleasure to host Hien and George and should any other visiting paddlers be in our neighbourhood and at time, you would be most welcome to come and visit us.
